Heroin addiction is a menace to society as it cripples a person from within. Even the consumption of prescription drugs like oxycodone or fentanyl can transfer to an addiction to heroin. Heroin is an opioid extracted from the poppy plant that binds to the opioid receptors in the brain and produces a chemically-induced euphoric state. The body builds a tolerance to heroin but doesn't reduce the craving, making the addict increase their dose or the number of times they have to take it. Heroin overdose will occur when the abuser introduces more than the system can handle. As it decreases the heart rate and blocks the pain receptor - overdosing often leads to death. The most used treatment for heroin addiction is medication-assisted treatment, of which Medicaid Suboxone Treatment is a part. However, one must consult their doctor before taking these medicines.
